Gareth elliott, partner
Gareth Elliott is a Partner at Sacramento Advocates, Inc., having previously worked for over 20 years in public service in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento in both the Legislative and Executive branches. Immediately preceding his work with Sacramento Advocates, Inc., Gareth served for four years as Legislative Affairs Secretary to Governor Brown, as a top advisor and his chief liaison to the Legislature.
A former Congressional Aide in Washington D.C., Gareth returned to California, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and Policy Director for the leader of the Senate, President Pro Tempore Don Perata. He also served as Policy Director for former Senator and current Secretary of State, Alex Padilla before joining Governor Brown.
As Legislative Affairs Secretary and a member of Governor Brown's Cabinet, Gareth worked closely with Agency Secretaries, Department Directors and has strong relationships with key decision makers throughout all levels of the Administration. Additionally, Gareth has well established relationships with other Constitutional Officers and their executive staffs as well as members of the California Public Utilities Commission and the California Energy Commission.
Gareth served as a constant advisor and chief negotiator for Governor Brown on legislative matters, forming robust relationships with members and staff of the Legislature of both parties.
Gareth is an expert on California state budget issues, understanding both the Legislature's and Administration's procedure and perspective. This unique experience allows Gareth to provide clients with strategic consulting and advice regarding the state budget, in addition to legislative and administrative actions.
Appointed by Governor Brown, Gareth also serves as a Member of the prestigious University of California Board of Regents for a term that expires on March 1, 2025.
Gareth received his Bachelor of Art Degree from California State University, Humboldt.
